Heather and I celebrated our one year anniversary on April 21st. We didn’t do anything to lavish since we left most of our money in Vegas earlier in the month. We would like to thank everybody for the warm wishes and cards that we received! I’m personally looking forward to our second year of marriage and many, many more to come.
Oh, you want to know how the cake tasted don’t you? Well we were happily surprised that it tasted almost the same as our wedding day it was just a little dry. We were both pretty skeptical because the cake had been in the freezer when we lost power due to the ice storms this winter. We’re both still alive and don’t seem to be experiencing any illness which is a plus.
We are curious though, does this mean we’re no longer considered newly weds?
Heather and I got to head out to Sin City for a few days so Paul could attend a conference for work. We headed up a couple of days early to do some site seeing before the conference started. The evening we arrived we had tickets to see Cirque du Soleil’s “O” which was absolutely amazing! The humor, acrobatics and aww factor left you speechless numerous times. I was pretty skeptical due the crazy ticket prices but I put those aside since everybody I knew who had seen the show raved about it. The only regret we have is we wish we would have attended the day after we arrived because we were so tired by the time the show started.
Before we went to “O” we walked down to the Tropicana casino to check out the Bodies Exhibit. Heather was really eager to see this during our visit and I was again skeptical. I wasn’t sure how much I would enjoy walking around looking at a bunch of preserved dead people. I’m not talking about plastic things that look like people, we’re talking actual preserved bodies. Lucky for me the bodies looked different enough that I could convince myself they were fake so I could look at them without tossing my cookies. It actually ended up being a very interesting exhibit with an abundance of facts and tidbits about the human body and how it all works. They have exhibits all across the US, if you get a chance be sure to check it out.
Once the conference started I was stuck in classes all day and the hotel asked Heather if she would help them hold down some of the chairs by the pool. We did get to sneak out a few nights and check out some more of Vegas. We had dinner at Jimmy Buffet’s Margaritaville (pretty tasty), Top of the World (restaurant located at the top of the Stratosphere, it spins slowly so you see the entire skyline of Vegas) and The Buffet at Bellagio (all you can eat sushi, prime rib, shrimp cocktail, sirloin, swordfish, salmon, desserts and on and on!). Of those three restaurants I would hit up The Buffet again in a heartbeat and a nice little tip is to get there early or wait in line forever. We got lucky and went for dinner around 6 o’clock and had immediate seating. When we finished the line was probably 50 feet long with nothing but hungry people.
This was also our first time away from our girls which made coming home even more exciting. Our summer plans are filling up pretty fast with trips planned for just about every month. Paul is heading to Orlando next month for another conference and then we are both planning a trip to Washington, DC in June. What we’re trying to get across here is that if you want to book some Peather time this summer you need to get it scheduled ASAP! We hope everybody is doing well.

What happens when the water bottles you use to “train” your puppies to not do something fall into the wrong hands, Water War! While I was minding my own little business being the angel of a husband that I am out of nowhere I get a blast of water to chest. I turn my head in amazement asking “Did the wall just spring a leak, because I know my lovely wife wouldn’t shoot me with water!”. When much to my dismay there in her cute little hands is the culprit, a green squirt bottle aimed precariously at her dear sweet, loving, caring, handsome husband. After I pick my jaw up off the ground I kindly point out that two can play this game. I jump to action running to the kitchen to find the secondary squirt bottle and begin the mission of “REVENGE”!
The sad part of this whole story is how quickly Heather forgot that I grew up with three brothers. Two older, better known as the “Torturers”, and a younger brother who served as a target for me to practice everything the “Torturers” taught me. Just to clarify this is not my first water rodeo as Heather would soon find out.
The Tactic: Aim for the face! If her eyes are closed she obviously can’t see me to squirt me back. Clearly evident in the above picture you can see just how victorious I was in the mission. Even when she broke the most hallowed of truces by shooting me again unarmed I was still able to leave the battle with little more than a droplet or two marking me. Muhahahaha (yes that’s my evil laugh).
Better luck next time honey…. better luck next time!
We went ahead and celebrated St. Patrick’s day a little early because it fell on a Monday this year. We loaded up on Saturday and headed over to Micky and Danielle’s house to get the festivities started. After everybody was present and accounted for we were off to the Blue Dome District to enjoy the evening at Arnie’s Bar and Dirty’s Tavern. The group consisted of Heather, my little brother David, Micky, Mo, Danielle, Omar and a few of Danielle’s friends. We also ran into a few other friends who were out that evening.
The weather could have been just a tad bit warmer but other than the frostbite it was an outstanding evening! We weren’t able to find any green beer but we did find beer in green cans. Although St. Pats is nowhere near as cool as Oktoberfest, it is a nice celebration to help kickoff spring. Be sure to check out all of the pictures from the evening because a picture is worth a thousand words. St. Pats Party Pics
